Dan Glomski
Dan Glomski has been involved in music since his first band was
formed in 1983. He has worked for Metro Mobile since 1991, and in
that time has learned a lot from working with the lowliest of rock
bands, to the holiest of Gospel choirs, and everything in between!
In the early 90s, Dan attended Columbia College part time for engineering.
He assisted on live recordings by the Meat Puppets, Johnny Winter,
Tin Machine, the Pixies, Todd Rundgren, Television, Smashing Pumpkins,
and worked on broadcasts with local radio stations like WXRT, WBEZ,
WNUA, and WLUP. He also managed to record a couple of independently
released records by different local bands.
From late 1994 through 1996, Dan toured with Capitol recording artists
The Smoking Popes as FOH engineer. He also recorded and mixed several
studio sessions for the band during that time, including a live
version of “Need You Around» which appeared on a record on Capitol.
Dan prodigally returned to Metro Mobile after touring and resumed
assistant duties in the mobile recording world on dates including
the Rolling Stones, Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson and many others. In
the last 5 years, he has engineered live recordings by David Byrne,
the Dandy Warhols, Shemekia Copeland, Roy Ayers, Alex Bugnon, Tyrone
Davis, Bobby Blue Bland, and others.
He enjoys mixing live sound at the Elbo Room in Chicago every Sunday,
and also at the Old Town School of Folk Music’s new theater on North
Lincoln Avenue.
Dan has just completed a 6 song CD for local band Semiprecious.
His current band Thing 3 will be recording a full length CD this
year. His shoe size continues to be 10 1/2.
